ABOUT THE LODGE

Oldshoremore Lodge is located six miles along the coast from Rhiconich to the west of Kinlochbervie in North West Sutherland.

The Lodge is a traditional stone and white washed croft house that has been extended over the years and is the main Lodge of the Rhiconich Estate, extending to around 11,000 acres.

It offers traditional, rustic accommodation for up to 10 guests.

Sitting proud in a commanding position facing south-west, the Lodge has magnificent views out to sea as well as overlooking a 'machair' so abundant in different species of flowering plant, that it has been designated a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest).

A short 10 minute walk direct from the Lodge takes you over a style and along a small burn down to Oldshoremore beach (Estate owned), one of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland.

Further to the west from Oldshoremore, at Blairmore car park you can walk out to the famous Sandwood Bay - the most north-westerly beach on the mainland and one of the most stunning locations - a truly special experience.

From Oldshoremore you are perfectly located for day trips up to Durness and its magnificent Smoo Cave, Balnakeil Beach and Craft Village, or travel south to Scourie and beyond to explore Kylesku and the stunning Quinag mountain range.

Keep an eye out for the wildlife though … golden eagles, white-tailed eagles, buzzards, otters, seals, migratory birds, diving birds, red deer (drive carefully) are all out there - if you are 'eagle-eyed'!!

At certain times of year you may even glimpse the mystical Northern Lights too.

FLY FISHING

Access to hill trout fly-fishing on the Rhiconich Estate West area is standard with your booking, and on certain Thursday’s during the season there is further access to a successful Salmon/Trout loch near Rhiconich (available at extra cost).

There is also a small Loch within easy walking distance to the rear of the Lodge which contains brown trout and the occasional salmon and sea trout (fishing permits included in your stay).

Fishing equipment is not provided.
